• ✷ WAX CARVING WORKSHOP ✷

  • OVERVIEW

The workshop will begin with an introduction to the techniques, tools and materials involved in wax carving. There will be examples of both wax-carved and finished silver rings on display, demonstrating the many varied shapes and textures that can be achieved through this process.

You will have time to sketch out your ideas before you begin carving your chosen design in wax. Don’t worry if you have no previous experience, or aren’t confident in your creative abilities ~ you’ll be guided through the process from start to finish!

After the workshop, your wax ring will be taken to a local foundry and transformed into sterling silver through a process called lost-wax casting. Once cast, your ring will be carefully hand-finished back at my studio, according to your specifications. You will be contacted when your ring is ready to post or collect ~ this process usually takes around two weeks.

    OPTIONAL EXTRAS

For an additional cost on the day, you may choose to add gemstones to your ring, get it gold-plated, and/or have it professionally hand-engraved. These additional embellishments will add an extra week or two to the lead time.

You may also choose to upgrade to a wide wax, allowing for a chunkier or more elaborate ring design.

If you wish to cast your ring in solid gold, the additional cost of this will be calculated at the end of the workshop, based on the weight of your finished wax ring.

All of these options will be explained in more detail during the workshop.
